New tracks coming in the new year

October 5th, 2008

So after taking a break from recording to solely focus on writing new songs (and also writing a novel), I’ve slowly inched my way back to recording.

At the moment, I am working with a couple of singers for a few songs of mine, and I also intend to record some other songs with myself singing. It basically depends on the style of the song - some are very much me and I want to sing them myself, some others were written with other singers in mind and I couldn’t do them justice on my own (yes, folks, my voice has got limits lol).

So from January, expect to see a lot of activity again on this website, with hopefully a new song every month. The sky’s the limit… kind of!

Also, I’m having a sale of my RachelAPP “Fire in my head” debut album - yes, RachelAPP is the name I used to record under before using my real name Nat JM - and it is available as a professionally duplicated CD for only £4 including postage, wherever you live in the world! You can go GRAB yours at http://www.myspace.com/rachelappmusic

Songwriting

March 15th, 2008

In late 2007, I made the decision to solely focus on my songwriting for the whole of 2008. I might come back to performing in 2009, who knows what the future might hold.

You can check out my songwriting page at SongTank http://www.song-tank.com/natjm . If you’d like to perform a song of mine, get in touch.

Rock on :)

It’s been a long time

December 14th, 2007

It’s been a long time since i posted here and i apologise for not putting an update before.

I had a bunch of problems, which led me to cancel my radio session and my London gig last month.

In the near future, i will not be recording any new material, but i am writing new songs so they might appear in one form or another in 2008. The plans for a European tour and an album to coincide are both suspended.

In the meanwhile, please go and support my friend Frederic, who is making a rockumentary entitled “Rock n roll girls” (more details at http://www.myspace.com/rnrgirls).

Oye, oye, people of London!

March tour

October 12th, 2007

I’m setting up a mini-european tour in March, helped by my friend Manu in Holland and various other people in other countries.

My itinary will take me through Belgium, possibly Germany, possibly Poland, and France. It’s not too late to add any other country to the tour so don’t hesitate to use the eventful “demand it” widget on the right side of the page (scroll up or down if you don’t see it).

Post punk - deconstruct and reconstruct music

September 22nd, 2007

“Post punk -deconstruct and reconstruct music” is the name of a new blog focusing on the post punk international music scene.

I find it difficult to find information about my favourite music scene, and a scene i consider myself a part of, so i’ve set up the blog to share the information i find. I cover the post punk scene from its origins right through to the present days.

All the dirt is at http://www.postpunk.rachelapp.co.uk

If you want to let me know about your post punk music news, leave a comment at http://postpunk.rachelapp.co.uk/share-your-post-punk-music-news/

Another nice mess

September 18th, 2007

“Another nice mess” is a weekly radio show hosted by DJ Marcelle Van Hoof, from Amsterdam.

She plays a lot of post-punk stuff like ESG, The Slits, The Fall, and she has just played my track “Manager” tonight. Go check out her show as it’s absolutely fabulous.

New track “closer to you” uploaded

September 18th, 2007

The chorus  for “Closer to you” was written in 3 minutes and the verses were written over 2 years! What a battle it has been…

So let me know if you think i have finally nailed the verse - or if i have to spend a further 2 years on it…

More info at http://www.natjm.co.uk/index.php?page_id=54

As usual, you can listen to the track using the media player. This is track #2 in the player.

Well done CDBaby!

September 17th, 2007

CDBaby sent my “Manager EP” tracks to Napster last week and to my surprise, it is being released on Napster today! That is what i call fast service!

So if like me, you are a Napster user, go and check it out.

This link should work but if not, start Napster and search for Nat JM ;-)

And if you don’t listen to my tracks, you might at least listen to PJ Harvey’s new single, which is being released today! It’s called “when under ether”. I’m listening to it right now and it’s great! Welcome back Polly :)
